Supplementary Course - Children Handling and Risk Assessment Key Trainer's Certificate

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course will train you in the skills of safer children handling.

WHO WILL BENEFIT?

This course is ideal for all health, social care or educational staff involved in the moving and handling of children and has been specifically designed for those who have previously attended our ‘People Handling and Risk Assessment Key Trainer’s Certificate’ or ‘Inanimate Object Handling and Risk Assessment Key Trainer’s Certificate' courses.

ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION

Course assessment comprises:

  • a completed Risk Assessment form;
  • a practical skills assessment, which takes place continuously throughout the course.

Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate from EDGE Services which is valid for two years.

COURSE AIMS AND INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course you shall:

  • understand how current legislation, pertinent to children handling, affects you as employees, and how it affects your employer;
  • understand the key principles of biomechanics and how they can be applied to efficient movement of inanimate objects;
  • understand how children handling risk assessments are conducted;
    have the opportunity to undertake a children handling risk assessment;
  • demonstrate your ability to move and handle children using only safer techniques;
  • be able to train others in the handling of children handling activities.
